NVIDIA Launches CUDA 5

Today, NVIDIA made available the CUDA 5 production release, for download, the newest and more powerful version of its parallel computing platform and programming model for accelerating scientific and engineering applications on GPUs.

For those who don't know, CUDA is the most popular way for developers to take advantage of GPU-accelerated computing, and as NVIDIA says: "With millions of CUDA-enabled GPUs sold to date, software developers, scientists and researchers are finding broad-ranging uses for GPU computing with CUDA."

CUDA features:

  • Nsight, Eclipse Edition ( Develop, Debug and Optimize… All in one IDE )
  • RDMA for GPUDirect (Direct communication between GPUs and other PCIe devices)
  • GPU Library Object Linking (Libraries and plug-ins for GPU code)
  • Dynamic Parallelism (Easily accelerate parallel nested loops starting with Tesla K20 Kepler GPUs)
