AMD Bridges Both x86 and ARM Processors .

AMD announced that the company will design 64-bit ARM® technology-based processors in addition to its x86 processors for multiple markets, starting with cloud and data center servers. 

AMD console chip executive departs for NVIDIA

The executive at AMD  responsible for getting the company's graphics chips inside the Xbox 360 and the Wii game consoles has now left the company. According to the Wall Street Journal, Bob Feldstein left the company on Friday and has come to work for NVIDIA this week, one of its biggest rivals.

AMD reports Q2 2012 financial results, revenues declining

Intel rules the PC side of CPUs and ARM-based processors from the likes of Samsung, Qualcomm, NVIDIA and Texas Instruments rule the smartphone and tablet market. In the midst of it all is AMD, struggling for survival in the fierce competition of the processor industry. Today bad news continue for AMD after the company reported disappointing financial results.

According to the company's press release, AMD had revenues of $1.41 billion for the second quarter of 2012, 10 percent lower compared to the same time period a year ago. AMD generated a $37 million profit in the second quarter, compared to a $61 million profit a year ago. Rory Read, AMD's CEO said: "Overall weakness in the global economy, softer consumer spending and lower channel demand for our desktop processors in China and Europe made the closing weeks of the quarter challenging."

In a more positive note Read also said today, "Our recently launched Trinity APU continues to gain traction with customers. We are committed to driving profitable growth."

AMD cuts prices of Radeon HD 7000 series

AMD is preparing for another round of prices cuts on its Radeon HD 7900 series and HD 7800 series graphics cards. This is done to make AMD's products more competitive against Nvidia's lineup, who is now preparing for the release of its mid-range graphics card, the GTX 660 Ti. The most significant price cuts come with the HD 7950 and below, intensifying the price-performance battle with Nvidia in the mainstream segment of the market.
