Recent rumors indicate that Nokia will release two new Lumia devices called the Lumia 910 and the Lumia 920. The rumor comes from WPDang, who have a great track-record with rumors turning out to be true.

Nokia continues to loose money in Q2 2012

Nokia released its Q2 2012 Interim Report report for the year's second quarter today, revealing an operating loss of €826 million ($1.02 billion) despite a slight increase in net sales. Nokia also announced that four million Lumia devices have been sold during the quarter.

The company's report also reveals it had net sales of €7.5 billion ($9.2 billion), up from €7.4 billion ($9.08 billion) in the previous quarter. Nokia increased its overall sales of smartphones both quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year. However the company had a positive year-over-year change in its net sales for devices and services only in North America, with increases of 45 percent year-over-year and 38 percent quarter-over-quarter for the continent.

Nokia's CEO Stephen Elop said: "Nokia is taking action to manage through this transition period. While Q2 was a difficult quarter, Nokia employees are demonstrating their determination to strengthen our competitiveness, improve our operating model and carefully manage our financial resources."

Nokia continued to spend its cash reserves, but at a much slower rate than analysts had expected. The company now has €4.2 billion ($5.16 billion) in net cash, a decrease from last quarter's €4.87 billion ($5.98 billion). According to CNBC, market analysts had expected Nokia's cash reserves to fall to €3.7 billion. Nokia expects its third quarter to be similar to its second quarter.

Nokia store in Helsinki to make a big reveal at September 7th

Nokia has its own retail store in Helsinki, as the company is huge in its home country of Finland. The store recently shut down for some renovations and will stay closed for at least a month. However, according to MyNokiaBlog signs have been placed at the store, claiming that "something amazing is coming" at September 7th.

This date happens to be the day after the annual Nokia World event in Helsinki, which will be held on September 5th and 6th. It's likely that Nokia will reveal a lot of new products at Nokia World, including its Windows Phone 8-based smartphones and maybe a Windows 8-based tablet device.

Nokia also launched a new website to promote the upcoming reopening of the Helsinki store, that allows you to upload a photo of yourself, and have it get hit with some Nokia graffiti action.

The Nokia Lumia 900 is cheaper to buy starting this week at $49.99

Starting this week, you can get a Lumia 900 via its exclusive wireless carrier AT&T in the US at $49.99, by signing a two year contract. That is a 50 percent price cut for the Windows Phone 7.5-powered smartphone.

The announcement was made on Nokia's blog, along with the announcement that the previously revealed pink version of the Lumia 900 is now also available for sale at AT&T stores.

The Lumia 900 launched in April for $99.99, with AT&T saying that demand for the phone had exceeded its expectations. The phone has also received positive reviews.

Reuters reported that, according to a quote from a Nokia spokesperson, it is not unusual to cut the price of a smartphone at this stage of a product's life, and is part of the ongoing lifecycle management, which is jointly done between Nokia and carrier customers.

Jolla signs agreement with D.Phone, China’s largest phone retailer

Jolla, a small startup company founded by former Nokia employees who worked on Maemo/MeeGo and who want to bring their own device to market, announced its first major deal today, a distribution agreement with China's largest mobile phone retaile, the D.Phone Group, that has more than 2,000 retail stores in the country.

According to this press release, the D.Phone Group will "start sales and distribution of Jolla smartphones in China". The company's CEO, Donhai Liu said in the press release: "We see great potential for Jolla as a new player in the Chinese smartphone market with Jolla’s fresh and unique user experience. Together with Jolla our aim is to reach significant sales volumes."

Jolla was founded last year by former Nokia employees, following Nokia's announcement of its partnership with Microsoft on Windows Phone, which resulted in the company's cancellation of its MeeGo efforts. However, Nokia has partnered with Jolla through its Bridge program, which gives departing employees funding, training and support for their new ventures.
