Microsoft has been busy improving and adding new features to its Bing search service in the past months, like the slight revamp of its homepage we reported on yesterday. Today, Microsoft adds yet another social feature to Bing.
Bing now includes tips and recommendations
from Foursquare, Microsoft announced in a post on the official Bing blog. Those results can be seen in the sidebar column,
on the right side of the Bing page. Microsoft's Swati Gharse
offers an example of how the Foursquare integration will work: "Later this week, I’m meeting some friends at a new restaurant. To learn more, I search on Bing for “Foreign Cinema”, the name of the restaurant. In addition to photos from my friends and reviews from bloggers, I now see public tips from foursquare users in the ‘People Who Know’ section in the sidebar".
The recommendations you get will be different depending on where you are. The
Foursquare support will be rolled out for US users of Bing. There's no word so far for international users.
