20 tablets with Intel processors available at launch of Windows 8

Intel is betting big on Windows 8 and is hoping that the launch of Microsoft's touchscreen friendly OS will bring in many Windows 8-based tablets, many of which will have Intel chips inside.

Venture Beat reports today that the company's CEO Paul Otellini said that there will be 20 Windows 8-based tablets available at the launch of the OS this fall. Presumably, he meant that there will be 20 Windows 8-based tablets with Intel processors inside.

While Intel rules the desktop and laptop industry, ARM has a significant advantage on the ultraportable space, such as phones and tablet devices. Indeed, Microsoft's Surface tablet will have its ARM version released first, with the Intel version, running Windows 8 Pro, coming out 3 months later.
