Microsoft reports $192m Q4 Net loss after aQuantive write-off

Microsoft has just announced that for the quarter ending June 30, 2012, they had revenue of $18.06 billion and operating loss of $192 million and a loss of $0.06 per share. This is mostly due to the write-off of aQuantive that they previously announced.

Excluding the write-off, the company did rather good, having a record quater. For Microsoft's Fiscal year 2012, the company did quite well with revenue at $73.72 billion, operating income at $21.76 billion and earnings per share hitting $2.00. Steve Ballmer said: "We delivered record fourth quarter and annual revenue, and we’re fast approaching the most exciting launch season in Microsoft history".

On the Server and Tools side of the company, revenue climbed 13% in the fourth quarter and 12% over the entire year. The Business Division revenue climbed 7% in the fourth quarter and 7% for the year and the Windows and Windows Live Division revenue dropped 13% in the fourth quarter and down 3% for the full year. The Online Services Division revenue grew by 8% for the fourth quarter and ended the year up 10%. Finally, the Entertainment and Devices Division grew 20% in the fourth quarter and 8% for the entire year.
