Instagram increases its user base to 80 million

In April, when Facebook acquired Instagram, the company that made the popular photo sharing and effects app, for $1 billion, it only had 30 million registered users. On May 1st, Instagram said that that number had increased to 50 million users, thanks mostly to the Android app which came out just before Facebook bought the company.

Today, according to the official Instagram blog, yet another milestone has been reached: "We’re excited to announce that the Instagram community has grown to over 80 million registered users who have shared nearly 4 billion photos!."
