Since not only privacy is a matter, now Facebook targets on advertising too using it's users phones.

Information about that matter, tells  that phone numbers are, used for custom audience targeting.

It is also said that phone numbers and email addresses can be leveraged too either from within Facebook or through other means.

Advertisers by checking on your facebook account, can see what things you like and make their advertising more effective.However, on one knows if that phone list contains only such advertizing info and if this is the only reason that is used.

So be on guard and if you consider to put your phone on your facebook account, think it twice !
